Willie Lide "Carolino" Smith Pelion - Willie Lide "Carolino" Smith, 77, of Pelion passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Agape Hospice after a brief illness. He was born December 17, 1940 in Columbia to the late Virden and Queenie Smith. He served for two years in the United States Navy and retired from Allied Chemical/Honeywell Industries with more than forty years of service. He was an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, League of the South and Cayce Moose Lodge. He loved traveling to exotic places such as Spain, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. When he was not traveling he enjoyed spending time at home working in his garden. He is survived by his sister, Jean Smith Thompson of Pelion and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Shirley Smith; and two brothers, Frank and Laverne Smith. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 at Sharon Crossroads United Methodists Church in Swansea, South Carolina. Visitation will be at the church from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Thompson's Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of the arrangements.
