Henry Sloan
December 27th, 1940 - June 23rd, 2016
Henry Sloan Jr., 75, of Columbia passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016. He was born in Columbia to the late Nettie and Henry Sloan. Henry graduate in 1959 from Dreher High School and USC School of Business. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. He served in the US Army as a member of the Army Security Agency from 1959 to 1966. Henry was a lifetime member of Shandon United Methodist Church and former member of the Administrative Board at the church. Henry recently transferred his membership to Lexington United Methodist. He was a past member of Columbia Sertoma Club and a lifetime member of USC Alumni Association and the Educational Foundation of Moore School of Business. Henry was a certified compensation professional by the American Compensation Association, the President and Cofounder of Sloan, Montgomery, Greg & Hall, a HR Management Consultant serving a variety of clients in the public and private sectors throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Henry's hobbies included reading, traveling and watching all sports. Henry is survived by a daughter, Brooks Sloan; two granddaughters, Adelyn and Maeve Larion; sister, Barry Sloan Lide; best friend, Mike Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Lexington United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington United Methodist Church, 309 E. Main St., Lexington, SC 29072.
