Mel Summers
December 4th, 1946 - July 31st, 2018
Mel Summers passed away on July 31, 2018, after a ten-year battle with heart, lung and kidney disease. As a youth, he lived all over the country with his mother and Air Force stepfather. Mel completed three years of college after his stint in the Air Force and became a lifelong entrepreneur. Mel was a creative visionary who worked as a manager in the private sector and—with his wife -established a succession of thriving businesses. In his later years he volunteered his time to manage the design and construction of a charter school that set a standard of efficiency and style, and which became a major asset to the community. Mel’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, daughter, two sons, four grandchildren and a sister. A short graveside memorial will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Area A, on Thursday, August 16 at 11:00 am. Ft. Logan cannot guarantee delivery of flowers, so those wishing to do so may contribute to their favorite charity in memory of Mel. A celebration of life ceremony will be announced at a later date.
