Ellen Tucker
October 7th, 1938 - May 1st, 2019
Ellen was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Karl Theodor Eggensperger and Elisabeth Karoline Phillipine Eggensperger nee Reichhardt. She had 3 older sisters, Inge Eggensperger, Helga Eggensperger (deceased), and Erika Hamburger and one younger brother, Klaus Eggensperger. Ellen’s formative years were greatly influenced by World War II. Her father was taken prisoner of war in Russia, her sister Helga died in a school in Poland, her eldest sister remained in Frankfurt while the remainder of the family, including Ellen were evacuated from the city. After the war they returned home to rebuild. By the age of 16, Ellen worked in a law office, having completed her apprenticeship as a Legal Assistant. Education was always very important to Ellen. She encouraged and supported her husband, children and grandchildren in pursuit of education. In 1958, Ellen met a dashing, young American G.I. who later that day professed to his buddy that he was going to marry that girl. Jerome Leon Tucker (Leon) and Ellen Eggensperger married in Frankfurt, Germany on January 9, 1960. Ellen and Leon had two children, Holger Leon Tucker of Sanford, NC and Diana Kershner (husband William) of Castle Rock, CO, three Grandchildren, Daniel Wilson, Brandon Kershner and Meghann Kershner and 4 great-grandchildren. Ellen had a life-long love for animals. She and Leon successfully raised and showed dogs throughout their lives together. They made many wonderful friends through their connections with dogs. Ellen was looking forward to being reunited with Leon and their many beloved dogs in heaven. She joined them on May 1, 2019.
