Ronald Lee Triplett was born in November 1960 to Teddy John Triplett and Judith Ann (Ansbach)Triplett. His mother had to vote for the Presidential race that year from her hospital bed.Ron was a graduate of La Sierra High School in Carmichael California and the Defense Language Institute of Monterrey California. He served in the US Air Force from 1979 to 1983 stationed in Heraklion Crete. He retained a lifelong interest in foreign languages studying French, Greek, Russian and Hawaiian. He moved to Colorado in 1987 and met Van Lynn Floyd at a party. He moved in with Van in October of that year and they traveled the world together visiting 75 countries on all 7 continents. In 2018 their travels took them from the Antarctic to the Arctic traveling from 66 degrees south latitude to 71 degrees north latitude. Ron was passionate about reading and worked for a time at The Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver. He was always interested in space and space exploration. He used his telescope to look to the stars. Van and Ron were fortunate enough to watch a Space Shuttle(STS-132) launch from the Causeway at the Kennedy Space Center in 2010. Ron loved food and cooking for his friends. His pre-People’s Fair Brunches were legendary. His Christmas buffets were amazing. He cooked every one of the dishes and even dipped the chocolate truffles. It was ironic that Ron loved exotic foods while Van was a meat and potatoes boy. Ron was one of the founders of the Front Range Bears of Denver and an Ebearitus Member. Ron and Van count numerous friends around the world because of the association with “the Bears.” Ron and Van had a commitment ceremony on May 11, 2019 at the Chapel of the VA Hospital (ECHCS). They always did things in their own way. Someone quipped that they had the honeymoon before the wedding. He was proceeded in death by his father Teddy Triplett and his brother Gary Triplett. He is survived by his mother Judy Triplett of Denver, his life partner and husband of 31 years, Van Lynn Floyd, his sister Kathy Stroup (Mrs. Lee Stroup) of Ventura, California, and his niece Jenna Stroup. He was cremated and a celebration of life party will be held for Ron in the upcoming months.
