James Daniel Tracy born on June 17, 1937 in Buffalo, New York went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the age of 82 years old. Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. While stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming he met and married Barbara Friebus on April 16, 1955. Jim was stationed at Thule Air Base and Sondrestrom Air Bases both in Greenland, followed by Rapid City, South Dakota where both daughters were born and Homestead, Florida where his first son was born. Jim was honorably discharged in 1963 and he returned to Greeley, CO where is second son was born. His father-in-law informed Jim he would not be able to find a job at that time. Fortunately, having been trained by the Air Force in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning he was soon hired by HE Horton Plumbing & Heating along with joining the Pipefitters Local 208 Union at that time. In 1965, Jim moved his family to Westminster, CO when he joined APH Plumbing & Heating. Needing a new challenge, Jim moved the family to Fort Lupton, CO to start his own HVAC company while also farming followed in 1974, a move to Brighton, CO. In 1976 following his oldest daughter’s wedding, Jim and family moved to Cody, Wyoming traveling the state for Honeywell, Inc. Jim also started managing the Cody KOA in 1977 finally resulting in his purchasing 50% of ownership of the KOA in 1983 and he still managed with his wife, Barbara while working for Johnson Controls HVAC at that time. Jim and Barbara sold the KOA in 1995 remaining an additional 2-years to help the new owners transition followed by moves to Thornton, Colorado, Thermopolis, Wyoming and in 2005 Yakima, Washington, 2010 Riverton, Wyoming and 2013 Greeley, Colorado. Finally, in 2017 Jim and Barbara moved to Littleton, Colorado to reside with daughter, Debbi and son-in-law Greg King. Jim had four children: Debbi D. King, Patty J. Stegman, Larry D. Tracy and Scott E. Tracy. He was blessed with 12-Grandchildren and to date 28 Great Grandchildren. A visit from the Grand and Great Grandchildren always brightened his day. Jim enjoyed Hunting and Fishing as often as he could. He always said “A day of fishing was a day added to a man’s life”. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty and Grandsons Matthew King and Jodi Tracy.
