Gilberto Uranga
January 2nd, 1934 - February 4th, 2017

He was born on January 2, 1934 in Presidio, Texas to Gregorio Uranga and Martina Vasquez Uranga. He serviced in the Armed Forces from May, 1956 and was honorably discharged December, 1957. We best remember him for his love of music. When he was home his strumming on the guitar echoed through the house and brought peace to our hearts. He could stroke the strings of a guitar with such finesse that anyone within earshot was immediately enveloped by the beautiful sounds. He also loved to sing and had such a beautiful voice that we never tired of listening to him sing. He and his first wife of 30 years, Virginia Uranga, both shared a deep love of dancing and music, that when they danced, it seemed they floated on air in unison. His love of music steered him toward being a Spanish radio announcer for a time in both New Mexico and Colorado. He loved to read anything he could get his hands on and passed his love of reading down to his children.
