Michael Whitby
October 6th, 1942 - August 13th, 2009
Michael Ross Whitby, 66, passed away suddenly August 13, 2009 from complications from an aortic aneurysm. He was born October 6, 1942 in Dalhart, Texas to Oscar Kay Whitby and Coye Louise McClendon. He was a 1961 graduate of Dalhart High School. After getting out of the Army, he worked for Los Alamos National Lab and Sandia National Lab and moved to Denver in 1995 to own and operate a Maaco Paint and body shop. In his later years he traveled the country, moving back to Dalhart to be with his mother who was in the nursing home. He then worked for the Dallam county jail as a jailer and moved back to Parker, CO in March of 2009 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in law, Kathy & Tracy Hinkle and Grandsons, Josh, Jacob and Jesse Hinkle of Parker, CO, Nieces Dana Abla (Kurtis) of Dalhart, TX, Nikki Alexander (Creighton) of Kansas City, KS, Nephew DJ Strong of San Antonio, TX, Nieces Theresa Boydston (Kip) of Burleson, TX, Sandra Boyd and Carolyn Barentine of Azle, TX, and 10 Great Neices and Nephews as well as his devoted little dog Sophie. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Kay Whitby, mother, Coye Whitby and sister Pam Strong Francione. Services will be held at Pinecrest Community Church, 7165 N Delbert Rd, Parker CO 80138 on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 10:30am. He will be laid to rest at Ft Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
