Joaquin "Zeke" Zuniga
September 17th, 1932 - February 20th, 2016
Joaquin “Zeke” Zuniga, 83, a long-time resident of Brighton, Colorado, born September 17, 1932 in Hastings, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 20, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his father, Eligio, his mother, Christina, his sister, Rose Mary, his brother, Salvador, and his Infant daughter Lois Christine. Zeke is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan, his children, Julie, Butch (Glenda), Eddie (Amy), and Geneva Miller (Brent); five grandchildren, Bobby (Jessica), Nicole, Justine Welch (Joey), David and Daniel Miller; and 5 great grandchildren, Joseph, Brooklyn, Wesley, Uriah and Lauryn, with another due in June; sisters, Margaret, Espy, Mary Ellen and Erma, brothers, Pete, Eligio, Joseph, Manuel, David, Ted and numerous nieces and nephews. Joaquin served his country in the Navy during the Korean War from July 1950 through August 1953 with an honorable discharge. Zeke worked for Gates Rubber Company for years then owned and operated J. Zuniga Excavating for 36 years.
