William Emery Zimmerman, Jr. (April 8, 1942 – May 22. 2019) ~ Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend~ Born to Louise (Comiskey) and William E. Zimmerman, Sr. and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Bill graduated from Penn State University and the University of San Francisco, and served in the US Navy as a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War. He and his wife, Carol, lived in California, Kentucky, Indonesia, and Canada before retiring to Florissant, Colorado in 2001. They have lived in Colorado for the past 18 years, where they were active in the Bear Trap community, and he served as a volunteer fireman and first responder for Four Mile Fire Department. Bill is characterized as a businessman, a world traveler, a golfer, a fisherman, adventurer, and a very dear friend. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Carter) of 49 years, his brother, Joseph, his children – Elizabeth Foster (Peter), Robert Skellenger (Julie), Diane Wilborn (Greg), and Jennifer Dilling (Christopher), 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Bill and Carol spent their retirement, putting thousands of miles on their car, vacationing and visiting family and friends (and a few wineries in between!). While not traveling, you would often find him reclined in his chair, with the kitty on his lap, enjoying their log home in the mountains, and watching wildlife outside the window. Bill Zimmerman lived a full life, fought hard in all areas, and left a legacy. We miss you and pray that you are smiling down on us in between rounds of golf. Hooyah! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to UC Health – Cancer Center Fund (uchospitalfoundation/donate)
