Mary Crackel
February 4th, 1927 - July 20th, 2013
Mary Francis Crackel, widow of Lawrence Edwin Crackel, child of Roland Sherwin Elder and Olive Anna Matthews, mother of 5 children, was born February 04, 1927, died July 20, 2013 at the age of 86 in Lakewood, Colorado of diabetic complications and infection. She will be interred with her husband and handicapped son, John Crackel, in Fort Logan Cemetery because she was the wife of a World War II Veteran. She is survived by her two brothers, Curtis Elder and Warren Elder and two of her children, Paul Crackel and Lauren Crackel. She has 7 grand-children and 10 great-grand children. Mary was married February 23 1946 and was widowed in 1991. In her 40’s, she went back to College. She became an accountant. She graduated from California State University–Northridge Alpha cum laude (with highest honors). When she retired, it was from the position of chief accountant for Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) which was purchased by British Petroleum who called her back to help with the financial closing of Wyoming Properties some years later. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served on the Board in Lakewood Colorado for many years. She loved genealogy and was the keeper of the family records. Mary became a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints early in 1980. She was sealed to her husband in the Salt Lake Temple on August 27th 1983. Later the family was sealed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Denver Colorado Temple.
