Pete Cruz
May 28th, 1930 - October 22nd, 2009
Pete Joseph Cruz passed away October 22, 2009. He was born May 28, 1930, in Silt, Colorado to Manuel Jesus Cruz and Antonia Cecilia Hernandez. Pete served his country from November, 1948 and retired from the Army after 30 years of service, on November of 1982, as an E-9, Master Sergeant. He served in the Korean War, was wounded at Taegue and was awarded a Purple Heart. Pete has resided in Colorado Spring from 1992 until present. He loved baseball, running, fishing, testing fate at the casino, spending time with his brothers, sisters, children, grand-children, nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws. Pete was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Pete was most proud of his children, Robert his oldest work for a government Naval contractor in San Diego, John (Bonnie) Cruz of Local 166 of the Plumbers and Steamfitters in Fort Wayne, IN, Paul (Sheila) Cruz of Votaw Electric in Fort Wayne, IN, Mark (Deanna) of Fremont Plastics in Fremont, IN. His greatest joys were his grandchildren: Sara and Nate Cruz, Ashley Froh, John Jr. Cruz and, Larisa Buchanan and Tim Cruz, Amanda Cruz and Jordan Cruz, along with his great grandchildren; Nathan Jr. and Adrian Cruz, Jaiden Froh, Sicily and Sydney Buchanan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Julia Marie, sisters Lola Montano, Mary Lucero, and Patricia Mondragon and his brother Patrick Cruz He is preceded in death by his sister Juanita, his brothers; Lupe Cruz and Manuel Cruz. A memorial donation in Pete Cruz’s name can be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas Texas 75231 Rosary to be held on Tuesday, Oct 27 at 6pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at 10 am. at St. Patrick’s Church in Colorado Springs. The burial will follow immediately at Fort Logan in Denver at 2:00 pm.
