Joshua Doweq
April 24th, 1984 - August 7th, 2012
Joshua Duane Dowe, passed on August 7th, 2012, at the age of 28, at his home in Strasburg, CO. Josh was born on April 24th, 1984 in Boulder, CO, a rambunctious child, full of life. He grew up in Northglenn, CO where he attended Federal Heights Elementary. He was known for his contagious giggle. Upon hearing his laugh, you couldn’t help but laugh right along with him. He loved Pokémon cards, baseball, soccer, wrestling and all the holidays, especially his birthday. Josh attended Northglenn Jr. High and began to notice girls. The girls thought he was adorable with his bleached, punked hair. He loved them all! He loved skateboards, rollerblading, movies, video games, and camping in Meeker with his family. Josh’s high school years involved a vicious cycle of cars. He would get a bomber of a car, his dad and he would fix it up, he would drive it, and eventually wreck it. Then, donate the car to the nearest junk yard, and the cycle would repeat itself over again. His high school years brought a new look and big brown eyes. He could give an irresistible puppy look that made it difficult for the girls to resist. Upon his graduation from Northglenn High School, Josh joined the army with strong feelings that it was a meaningful and honorable way to make a difference in bettering his life and country. However, the Army didn’t know what they were in for. He was a #1 jokester! Josh gave them a new style of boot camp. He had a special gift of bringing laughter out in others around him. We can only imagine the fun his comrades had. Josh loved working with his hands. He was enrolled and about to graduate with a degree in Construction Management from Redstone College in October of this year. Josh had a soft side. When it came to his mom, he would make her feel special every month by bringing flowers to her, even if it meant cutting them out of the neighbors’ yard. Josh had two older brothers, Jason and Justin, that taught him about life and how to take care of himsef. Their hearts will always miss him. His grandma and grandpa held a special place in his heart. He spent many hours boating and water skiing with them and his large family of cousins. His grandparents even let him drive the boat underage (with supervision)! And let’s not forget what he would say about his aunts, “I’ve got the sexist aunts!” Josh believed and shared: When under trial, let know one say, “I am being tried by God,” For with evil things God cannot be tried, Nor does he himself try anyone. Josh leaves behind his loving parents, Susan and Rollie Merriman of Strasburg, CO and Stephen Dowe of Hope Mills, NC, his brothers Jason Dowe of Strasburg, CO and Justin Dowe of Denver, CO, maternal grandmother Carol Lebsack of Northglenn, CO and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who love and will all miss him. Josh, A thousand words won’t bring you back, we know because we’ve tried; neither will a thousand tears, we know because we’ve cried. Always on our mind; forever in our hearts. A memorial service was held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Friday, August 17th with a gathering for family and friends at the Saron Lutheran Church, Strasburg, CO. Please Don’t Cry For Me Please don’t cry for me; I’m still here, though you can’t see me. I’m right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay. My body is gone but I’m always near. I’m everything you feel, see, or hear. My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart. I’ll never wander out of your sight. I’m the bright star on a summer night. I’m the colorful leaves when fall comes around. And the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I’m the beautiful flowers, of which you’re so fond, the clear, cool water in a quiet pond. I’m the first bright blossom you’ll see in the spring; I’m the first warm raindrop that April will bring. When you start thinking there’s no one to love you, you can talk to me through the Lord above you. I’ll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees. And you’ll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze. I’m the hot salty tears that flow while you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I’m the smile you see on a baby’s face. Just look at me, I’m every place!
