All Veterans Funeral & Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Mark Doherty
May 7th, 1955 - August 31st, 2016
Mark was known as a gentle giant. He had a heart as big as Texas and would help anyone in need. He was born in Paris Tennessee and attended high school in Colorado Springs. He met his first wife Kathleen in Castle Rock Colorado prior to joining the military and they were married in 1972. He joined the Army right out of high school and was part of a field artillery unit. While in the Army he was stationed at Fort Carson. He also spent a year in Korea along the DMZ. After his contract was up with the Army he joined the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He spent most of his time in the Navy aboard the USS Saratoga working on the control panels of F-15 airplanes. He was also stationed at Moffett Airfield in Mountain View California. His wife Kathleen passed away in 1982. The family moved to Phoenix in 1986 and he began working at Borden Cremette Factory as a maintenance mechanic. Mark married his second wife Shirley a few years later. In 1999 he moved back to Colorado to be with his family and to see the mountains he missed so much when he moved away. His second wife passed away in 2008. Mark worked for the last 7 years as a maintenance mechanic at Fresh Del Monte foods in Aurora. Mark wasn’t much of an athlete he preferred to spend his time fixing muscle cars and machinery. He loved watching the history channel. He could fix just about anything. He loved music and new technology. He was an active member of the VFW. He is preceded in death by his parents Roger and Dorothy Doherty, his wife Kathleen Doherty, his wife Shirley Doherty and his brother Paul Doherty. He is survived by his daughters Buffi Lynn Doherty and Katrina Dawn Hall, his brother Lane Doherty, his brother Terry and sister in law Sharon Doherty, his nieces Rosie and Shannon Doherty, his nephews Terry and Kyle Doherty. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer for donations to be made to the VFW in honor of Mark Doherty http://www.vfw.org/Contribute/
