Donald Everett England – 9/28/1937 – 3/14/2019 Don was born in Denver to Emily (Bier) and George England. He had 6 siblings. A twin sister, Doris (Lucci), brothers, Fred, Paul and Ernie (Gruber) and sisters, Kathern (Tronick) and Betty (Sales). He married Donna Frey October 10, 1959. Don and Donna’s family grew with three children Evonne (Warren Kuhrt), Evette (Joe Van Dyke) and James (Jim), who preceded Don in death (1987). Grandchildren followed: Kyrene Kuhrt, Kayla Kuhrt (Brian Brotemarkle), Cori Van Dyke, Sabrina Van Dyke (engaged to Jonah Haug), and Natalie Van Dyke. Great Grandchildren: Keanie VanOsdol, Landon and Addilyn Brotemarkle. Don was a true family man and found great joy and expressed great pride in his grandchildren. He maintained close ties with many of his numerous nieces and nephews, as well as their families. Don grew up in Denver and graduated from Manual High School in 1955. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956 and was honorably discharged after 2 years of service. Don met Donna on June 6, 1959 D- Day. They married in Denver on October 10, 1959 (married 59 years). This young couple moved to Lakewood in 1964 where they raised their family. Don worked at Martin Marietta, did construction, worked at United Airlines all before he started working at the telephone company. He retired as a manager from the phone company in 1990 at the age of 53. He then worked as a consultant and enjoyed volunteering doing construction following a hurricane in St. Thomas and helping with home repair in Appalachia Kentucky. Don and his family joined Our Saviour’s Church in 1971 where he attended for over 40 years. He served as an elder and deacon and developed many life-long friendships. He enjoyed the church bowling league and softball teams for many years. Softball, fishing and hunting were hobbies he enjoyed throughout his life. He and Donna enjoyed traveling together and visited all 50 states, along with Europe, Australia and the Holy Land. His greatest source of enjoyment was attending his grandkids school plays, church presentations and sporting events. Anyone who knew Don could tell you that ice cream was his favorite food. That when he fixed something he fixed it right, and he never needed to look for a tool in his garage because everything had a place. Don maintained an amazing sense of direction and his pleasant demeanor, even as his final years were negatively impacted by dementia, macular degeneration and glaucoma. Don was proud of his children and grandchildren and would always tell them, “well done,” these are the words he looked forward to hearing when he entered heaven, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21 A Celebration of Don’s life will take place at Our Saviour’s Church – 1975 S. Garrison St., Lakewood, CO on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00. A lunch reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to BrightFocus Foundation – Cure In Mind.
