Marian Forbis
April 25th, 1923 - September 3rd, 2012
Marian was born April 25, 1923 to George and Helen Walsh. She was born in Orient, Penna. She entered eternal life on September 3, 2012. She loved angels, music boxes, nursing, and above all her family. She cherished her grand children and great-grandchildren. Marian graduated from the Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She joined the Army Nurse Corps with a desire to travel overseas. She was assigned to Walter Reed Hospital. Among her many important patients was General “Black Jack” Pershing. Unfortunately a heart murmur ended her Army career. After discharge from the Army she made her way to Denver to visit her brother, George, who was recovering from war wounds at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. She was working at Beth Israel Hospital when she met Gene Forbis. They married six months later and were married for 61 years prior to Gene’s death on January 15, 2010. They lived in a small apartment until their family grew and then moved to a home on West Warren in Denver and raised their family there. Marian was employed as a nurse for Dr. Henry Landis for over 20 years. Marian delighted in camping, riding her Honda 50 on the trails, spending time at “Little House” in Silvercliffe, Colorado and spending time with friends and family. She was famous among friends and family for her peanut brittle she made every Christmas. (A skill none of us has been able to duplicate). Marian is survived by 3 daughters; Nancy (Don) Drummond, Christine (Ed) Loffredo, and Dorothy (Jim) Shadrick. She is also survived by granddaughters; Shelly Weber, Wendy (James) Dishon, Terry Swanby, Tonya Wingert and Wendi (Rasesh) Joshi. She is also survived by Great- grand children; Mason Weber, Addison Weber, Danielle Dishon, Evon Dishon, Taran Joshi, and Anjali Joshi. We know quite simply that the world is a better place for Marian having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade; her spirit will always be with us; and her love will live forever in our hearts.
