Edna "Bonnie" Jean Brita
January 14th, 1943 - May 15th, 2021
Edna "Bonnie" Jean Brita Edna “Bonnie” Jean Brita (Dyke), 78, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2021 at Pikes Peak Center after a long illness. Bonnie was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Joseph and Edna (Cannon) Dyke. She raised her family in Pennsylvania before moving to South Florida in 1982, where she put her entrepreneurial skills to work, starting and operating several small businesses in the services and contractor industries. Upon retirement, Bonnie moved to Colorado Springs, where she married her longtime love, Frank Brita in 2005. Although retired, Bonnie never stopped. She and her beloved dog Rocco were well known with many friends throughout her retirement community in the Springs. She was always ready to drive someone to appointments, or run errands. Her home was always welcoming to neighbors, whether to share dinner, a cup of coffee, or an ear to listen. Bonnie is predeceased by her husband Frank, who died in 2008. She is survived by her three children, Christina (Johnston) Nasuti and her husband Nicholas of Marlborough, MA, Gerald Johnston and his wife Kim of Colorado Springs, CO and Kevin Johnston of Estes Park, CO. She leaves her beloved 6 grandchildren - Anthony Nasuti and his wife Victoria McBrine of West Boylston, MA, Michael Nasuti of Marlborough, MA and Victoria Nasuti and her partner Ari Weber of Charlestown, MA, and Kassidy, Cillian and Ashlyn Marvel of Colorado Springs. Bonnie was also blessed by the arrival of her great-grandchild, Charlotte Quinn Nasuti, in May 2020. She is also survived by her sister Joanna Hayes of Maryland, as well as her extended family of cousins and friends she remained close with over the decades. Bonnie will be buried in a private service, along with Frank, at Pikes Peak National Military Cemetery. In lieu of donations or flowers, the family asks that we all celebrate Bonnie’s generous spirit by checking in on our aging friends and neighbors, offer a ride or run an errand for them. Or perhaps share some time and a cup of coffee with them.
