James was preceded in death by his parents, Ben & Dorothy Covey & Special Uncle Felix Covey, Brothers Raymond, Richard & Ben, Grandson Jason Bateman. James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice, sons; James, Larry (Drenna), daughters; Sharmayne (David) Hare, Jill (Steve) Mathias, Maryann (Larry) Bateman, brothers, Don & John & Sister, Nomi, 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, numerous nephews & nieces & a host of other relatives & friends. James served in the Coast Guard during WWII & belonged to Pipe Fitters Local #208. He served as Adams County Commissioner from 1975-1978. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday Oct. 20th at 2:00 pm, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham St., Thornton, with Fr. Tom Coyte officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Miller, Dr. Abruzzo, Dr. Dixon, Dr. Dunham, Dr. Carson, Dr. Ammens, Dr. Chiang, Dr. Pritchett & Dr. Bacher & the nursing staff of CCU, ICU, 6th floor North & 5th floor West at St. Joseph’s Hospital, especially Leslie, Alex, Scott, Angela, Jeff, Graham & Crystal. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary Ciancio Foundation in his memory to the attention of Lindy Schultz, 11285 Highline Drive, Northglenn, CO 80233.
