James Edward Sterling, Jr.

Mr. James Edward Sterling, Jr., age 68, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 peacefully with his dog Sam by his side. Mr. Sterling was born August 28, 1955 in Glen Burnie, Maryland to James Edward and Ada Marie (Miles) Sterling, Sr. He was a Polk County resident since the 1970’s coming from Maryland. James was a retired maintenance man from Dixie Southern Industrial. He enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars, cooking and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother – Frank and sister – Betty. James is survived by his loving family, wife of 23 years – Susan Sterling of Auburndale, Florida; 2 sons – James (Angie) Sterling, III of Auburndale, Florida & Stephen (Viktoria) Grimes of Germany; daughter – Julie (Jeff) Spradlen of Davenport, Florida; sister – Terri (Dave) Wilkens of Maryland; 7 grandchildren – Ebony, James IV, Abby, Aleia, Svenja, Caeley (James) & Tyler; 6 great grandchildren – Aubree, Zayden, Aniya, Zakai, Lainey & Archer. Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday, June 18th at Steele’s Family Funeral Services with visitation beginning at 10am at the funeral home. Interment and Committal will be 1pm at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland.
