RONALD C JOHNSON
1934 - 2024
Ron died June 9, 2024 in Chandler AZ
just 12 days short of being 90 years old
He was born in Spokane, WA
on the first day of summer, June 21, 1934
Father: Clarence R Johnson Mother: Bertha M (Kidd) Johnson
The family resided in Cheney, WA, a small community south of Spokane in wheat country,
but they traveled during the winter to western Washington to find work. They eventually moved
there permanently during WWII where Clarence worked in the shipyards.
Ron grew up on a small farm, taking care of animals, tending the garden and cutting wood for their stoves. His father insisted that work come first, then he willingly played with his boys.
Ron was a member of the Assemblies of God church most of his life. Neighbors asked to take
him and his brother to Sunday School, which started a lifetime of the family being devoted to attend.
Ron met his wife, Darlene, when they were 11 years old, when her father became Pastor of the church. He was smitten and determined she was the one for him. A few years later that did become a fact!
He loved his GOD devoutly; He loved his family dearly; He loved Sports devotedly;
He walked the straight and narrow; He was honest to a fault; He labored with intensity!
He completed 2 years of college, secretly hoping to be a teacher, but took a construction job
to support his family. Years later he wished he had studied to be an attorney!!!
Life takes different turns than we expect sometimes.
Ron is survived by his wife of 70 years, Darlene (Weddle) Johnson; two daughters
Rhonda L Anderson, of Springfield, MO; and Rosann K Farmer, of Kirkland, WA;
four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren; two brothers Loyd Johnson, of Spanaway WA;
Larry Johnson, of Puyallup WA; one sister Marilynn Martin, of Spanaway WA;
and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne A Johnson.
He will be interred in Mountain View Cemetery, Tacoma WA.
