Hulda Marie Harney

Hulda M. Harney, 95, of Cloquet, died Friday, August 11, 2006 in Cokato Manor, Cokato. She was born September 27, 1910 in Sandy Lake Township, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Klokstad) Munter. She attended grade school in Mahtowa and was a 1930 graduate of Barnum High School. She married Hugo Gustafson on June 16, 1934. Hulda had worked at Wilson's Store and the US Post Office in Mahtowa, at the YWCA in Duluth and was a self-employed caterer for many years. Hulda had been a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cloquet and was the former chairman of the church Altar Guild. Hulda was skilled at sewing and handiwork and loved to weave rugs for friends and family. She married Leo Harney on March 20, 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo in 1975; husband, Leo in 1997; five brothers, Carl, Alfred, Oscar, Harold and Edwin Munter and four sisters, Gerda Kindgren, Charlotte Anderson, Florence Paulson and Esther Fleckton. Hulda is survived by her two children, Lenore (Russell) Brown of Cokato, MN and Kenneth (Rebecca) Gustafson of Plymouth; a sister, Clara Midthon of Duluth; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in Zion Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Burial in Mount Salem Cemetery, Mahtowa. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
