Carol Diane Pfisthner

Carol Diane Pfisthner, 74, of Lake Nebagamon, Wisc., died Saturday, March 5, 2011, in her home. She was born November 27, 1936 in Mankato to Lloyd and Helen Reed. Her family moved to Barnum when Carol was a young girl. She graduated from Barnum High School. On August 16, 1952, she married Richard Pfisthner in Mahtowa. They made their home in Wrenshall and together raised eight children. Carol worked at Diamond Match during the 1960's. In 1975 they moved to Wisconsin where she farmed with her husband for five years. They then moved to Arizona where Carol worked as a home healthcare aide. She retired and moved to Lake Nebagamon in the early 1990's but continued to winter in Arizona for a few years. Carol was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy came from caring for and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard; three daughters Carolynn Jane Martin of Denver, Colo. and Judy (Joseph) Porfidio, and Jamie Pfisthner both of Mesa, Ariz.; five sons Joel (Joan) of Scottsdale, Ariz., David of Superior, Mark of Lake Nebagamon, Jeremy (Ann) of Sherwood, Oreg., and Ian Pfisthner of Lake Nebagamon; brother Alvin (Gertrude) Reed of Mankato; three sisters Joyce (Robert) Ober of Overgaard, Ariz., Bonnie Jones of Brookston, and Donna (Royce) Sullinger of Cloquet; 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 9th, 2011 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet.
