Jack John Curtis
September 4th, 1921 - October 18th, 2013
Jack Curtis, the hardest working man his family has ever known, retired permanently October 18, 2013 at the age of 92. There must have been a problem with the Pearly Gates of Heaven because he wasn't going anywhere unless there was something needing repair or a project to keep him busy. He left this world, quietly, peacefully, and is now where his spirit is free, his soul is comforted, and is embraced in the welcoming arms of our Lord. He has joined those who have gone before him...his parents, Ace and Luella Curtis; daughter, Joyce; grandson, Mark; siblings, Marion, Lillian, Margaret, Bud, Bill; and former wives, Julia, Grace, and Vivianne, in making a plan on how to help those who have yet to join them. Here on Earth he is survived by many who will always need a bit of fixing and certainly benefit from a bit of heavenly help; children, Michael (Marge) Gibson, Lynn (Al Graff) Freeman, Gloria (Jeff) Moen, John (Therese) Curtis, 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces; and Jean Curtis. He is also survived by a very special group of people too numerous to mention individually: the staff and residents at Sunnyside Heath Care Center who cared for and about him, who became his friends, companions and neighbors...his lifeline. His family hopes someone will carry on his self-appointed handyman duties, weeding the garden, feeding the birds, and bringing a smile each day with a kind and energetic spirit. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Inurnment was in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Floodwood.
