Edward S. Olson, 71 of Cloquet died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth. He was born in 1936 in Scanlon, the son of Sigvard and Emma Olson. Ed served in the Army from 1957 - 1959. He was a 43 year employee of Potlatch Corporation, retiring in 1998. Ed was very active and served as President of Local Union 939 for 10 years. Ed was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach in the winter to play golf. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose Lodge, Cloquet American Legion, the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, and was a long time member of Cloquet Country Club. Ed especially enjoyed morning coffee with his friends at Lemon Tree. Ed was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Emma Larson and his step-father, Fred Larson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen; his son, Keith (Donna) Olson of Jacksonville, FL; one granddaughter, Megan Olson; a brother, Robert Olson of White Bear Lake; and a sister, Joyce (Donald) Westerham of Cloquet; extended family members and many friends. Memorial Services were held on Friday, September 19, 2008 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet followed by a lunch in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
