Harold Peterson
February 2nd, 1912 - April 9th, 2004
Harold "Pete" J. Peterson, age 92, of Cloquet died on Friday, April 9, 2004 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. Harold was born February 2, 1912 in Litchville, North Dakota to Tekla and John Peterson both of whom were immigrant pioneer farmers from Sweden. He graduated from the Grand Rapids Agricultural School in 1930. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force serving in New Guinea during WWII. Harold married Eleanor Berntsen of September 16, 1943 in Duluth. Following WWII, Harold owned and operated Peterson Landscaping Company and also worked for fifteen years until retirement at the Northwest Paper Company. He was a charter member of the Grace Baptist Church of Cloquet. Harold was known for his generosity, humor, love for the family and the north woods. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Vickie Anderson, Rev. Doug Green and the staff of both Carlton Place and Inter-Faith Care Center for the excellent care given to Harold. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry and two sisters, Astrid and Hazel. Harold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor, of Carlton; a daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Crotteau of South Carolina; two sons, Donald T. (Susan) of Fairbanks, Alaska and David H. of Two Harbors; a sister, Hannah (Sherman) Johnson of Cloquet; grandchildren Gina (Chris) Lemke, Kimberly (Nathan) Miller, Thomas (Jennifer) Peterson, Aelin (Luke) Peterson-Allegood, Erin (John) Glas, Tara (Josh) Schoeller, Jon (Rubi) Peterson, Jason (Pearl) Peterson and nine great grandchildren, a niece, Vivian Peterson of Boston, a nephew Harry (Sylvia) Peterson of Madison, WI and many relatives and friends A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
