Charles David Langley, 31 of Esko died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in his home. He was born March 1, 1983 in Cloquet to David and Charlyne Langley. He grew up in Esko and attended school in Esko. He was a talented athlete, especially in baseball. During his freshman year of high school he was member of the Esko varsity baseball team that made it to the state tournament. Charles was the relief pitcher, pitching in two of the games. He enjoyed following the Twins and the Gophers. He was also a talented musician and artist. He especially loved trout fishing and could out-fish most people. He enjoyed traveling to the Root River in southern Minnesota to fish. He would clean the fish and then give them to his grandmother. Many of his water color paintings were of trout. Charles was a kind and considerate person. He was very knowledgeable about the Christian faith, having read the bible several times. He never turned down an opportunity to share his faith with others. He was a compassionate person and had a love for animals. He enjoyed spending time with his father delivering the Pine Journal and the Northland Smart Shopper on the reservation route from 2009 until 2012. Charles is survived by his parents, David and Charlyne Langley of Esko; brother, Brent (Des) of Roseville; sisters, Tevia (Rick) Schneider of Cotton and Megan Langley of Esko; grandmother, Arlyne Seaton of Spring Valley, Minn.; and four nieces. Funeral service were held on Monday, March 10, 2014 in the Big Lake Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
