Richard "Dick" Paul Hotchkiss, 79 of Cromwell died Sunday, February 10, 2008 in Bayshore Health Care Center in Duluth. He was born October 13, 1928 in Ashby, MN to Frank and Helen Hotchkiss. At the age of three, he moved with his family to Wright. He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1947. Dick served in the 11th Airborne Corp. of the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. On June 6, 1953 he married Betty Deater in Muskegon, MI. While in Muskegon, he worked for Fisher Body. The family moved to Davenport, IA for six years before returning to Michigan. He worked for Dupont in Montague. He then went to work for and retired from Misco - Howmet Division. In 1996 they moved to Cloquet and finally made their home in Cromwell. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing and volunteered at the Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell. Dick also attended the men's Bible study at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Dick was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, David and Bob; and three sisters, Louise Harp, Lorraine Oja, and Helyn Korby. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Cromwell; children, Kim (Phil) Bush of Newaygo, MI, Sharon (Les) Houck of Cromwell, David Hotchkiss of Nashville, IN, Richard Hotchkiss Jr. of Cromwell, Jamie (Dale) Palmer of Twin Lake, MI, Carla (Mark) Hyrns of White Cloud, MI, and Robin (Chuck) Hill of Muskegon, MI; brother, Jim (Teake) Hotchkiss of Apache Junction, AZ; 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Military Honors accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard.
