Kenneth Dale Knight, 75, Floodwood, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 23, 2005. He was born May 15, 1929 in Minong, WI and was raised and attended school in Superior. Kenny was a WWII Army veteran and was stationed in Italy at the end of the war. Before going into construction, he operated the Standard station in Floodwood. Kenny was a heavy equipment operator for many years and worked in Greenland for a short time doing contract work for the military. He had also been employed for nine years as a crane operator for Great Northern Railroad. He then worked for United General, Hedenburge, Amendola and Kolb Construction. Even in his retirement, he loved keeping his hand in the business and Steve Kolb gave him that opportunity. Kenny's greatest love was helping and being with his family. He will be fondly remembered as someone who could fix anything. Kenny also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, car restoration and working on his "projects." He is survived by his wife, Maureen Ann, of Floodwood whom he married May 14, 1971; four daughters, Barbara (Todd) Romanek of Floodwood, Elizabeth (Tim) Egan of Knife River, Debbie Knight of Osseo and Terri Black of Cloquet; two sons, Brian Holmes of Floodwood and Dale Knight of Duluth; his brother, Leon (Dorothy) Nord of Superior; his aunt, Saima Klauke of Superior; a granddaughter, Courtney Romanek for Floodwood three grandsons, T.J. Romanek and Kaleb Holmes, both of Floodwood and David Connors of Osseo; two great granddaughters, Faith and Jordan Romanek of Floodwood and many other family members and friends. A memorial service was held on April 28, 2005 in Hope Lutheran Church, Floodwood. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
