Michael Kenneth Luing

Michael Kenneth Luing, 71, of Cloquet, died Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born July 22, 1947 in Worthington, MN, the son of Kenneth and Isabelle Luing. Mike married Sharon Korpi on December 17, 1966 in Moose Lake. Mike served in the US Navy from 1965 - 1968. He worked at Conwed Corporation before attending plumbing school. He worked as a plumber in Wyoming for a year and moved back to Cloquet and worked for Potlatch/Sappi for 34 years, retiring in 2007. Mike loved the Lord and attended Sawyer Chapel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, taking vacations, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grands. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; children, Chad Luing and Kim (Ben) Shabiash; grandchildren, Shanita, Kylee and Chase; great grandchildren, Audrianna and Amarreon; and siblings, Anita (Al) Ninteman, Becky (Larry) Doran, Randy (Pam) Luing, Daryl (Charlie) Luing and Terry Luing and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from be 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service, Monday, March 25, 2019 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred.
