Lillian Mary Ann Spicer
July 14th, 1930 - May 30th, 2020
Lillian Mary Ann Spicer, 89 of Carlton, formerly of Culver, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 in Inter-Faith Care Center. She was born July 14, 1930 in Wilkinson, Minn. the eldest of eleven children born to William and Jeannette Noonan. Lillian dropped out of school in the 10th grade to go to work in Cass Lake and later moving to Illinois where she worked at a Dime Store. She returned to Minnesota as she was needed at home. She worked at Steamboat Lake Resort. Lillian eventually received her diploma in 1965. On October 5, 1948 she married Gene Spicer in Wilkinson. During their first few years of marriage they moved around a bit to find work. They eventually moved to Culver in 1958 and that became their home. Lillian worked at the Anderson Group Home, Colonial Home II, Maki Group Home all in Brookston, and the Carlton Nursing Home. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Culver. Lillian enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, oil painting, and jewelry making. Her greatest joy came from being with her family which she was very proud of. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; great grandson, Kyle Davis; great great grandson, Logan Brasel; brothers, Douglas, Dennis and George Noonan; and sisters, Delores Sjolie, JoAnn Carlson, and Darlene Smith. She is survived by six children, Gene (Brenda) Spicer Jr. of Killeen, TX, Toni Spicer of Duluth, William Spicer of Brookston, Gary Spicer of St. Peters; Ellen (John) Spicer Creegan of Iron River, WI, and Mary (Ronald) Carlson of Culver; sister, LaVerne (Allen) Kennedy of Walker and Wilma Wollin of Bovey; brothers, Paul Noonan of Oscoda, MI and John Noonan of Topeka, Kansas; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Noonan of Oscoda, MI.
