Richard Charles Carlson, 79 of Cloquet passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020 in Cloquet. He was born June 3, 1941 in Cloquet to Swen and Esther Carlson. Dick graduated from Cloquet High School in 1959. Dick served in Army from October 1960 until October 1962. He then served four years in the Army National Guard. After his discharge from the Army, he worked at Wood Conversion for a short time before going to work at Potlatch where he worked for more than 36 years. He retired in July of 2001 as a millwright. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing. He also loved his dogs, Oly #1 through #5. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and one, brother, Robert "Bob" Carlson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce; step-son, Mitchell (Debbie) Rontti of Rogers; son, Chad Carlson of Cloquet; two grandsons, Drew (Kacie) Rontti and Matthew (Anna) Rontti; three great grandsons, James, Joel and Owen; and many friends and relatives. Private family services will be held. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
