There was a memorial service in Massachusetts on Saturday, June 21st, at 10:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 150 Brown Street, Weston, MA. About 400 were in attendance with another 100 people viewing remotely. At the conclusion of the service, Megan and James spent two hours receiving over 250 wonderful friends and loved one representing every facet of their and Lachlan's lives. A Hawai'i-style plate lunch of kalua pork, mac salad, rice, and fruit was served, along with delicious (ono) coconut cupcakes provided by the generous members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In place of flowers, we encourage everyone to give love and light to the people around them, just as Lachlan did so regularly. Should you feel to donate, the family has organized a fund to support the education of students at BYU-Hawai'i, who come from more than 70 countries around the world, many of them island nations with few resources. Their fellowship was one of the things that gave Lachlan the most joy. The Lachlan Maluhia McQuivey Memorial Fund will aid his fellow students today and others like them in the future. Because mental health and wellbeing of students is also very important to Lachlan, we will set aside a portion of all donations to support the efforts of BYU-Hawai'i Student Life to minister to students facing challenges and difficulties.

In partnership with the wonderful Hopkin Foundation, which already provides scholarship grants to BYU-Idaho students, the McQuivey Family has arranged for their Foundation to securely collect and correctly account for donations. Lachlan Maluhia McQuivey Memorial Fund Details

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 14th, at 10:00am at the BYU-Hawai'i Stake Center in La'ie, Hawai'i. Hundreds of students, friends, and family attended in support of our wonderful son. We would like to thank all those who participated in making this memorial service truly special, providing our family with kokua (help) and ola (healing). We especially thank the following for their contributions to the service:
<ul>
<li>President Keali'i Haverly and Lachlan's Bishop, David Aupiu, for organizing and presiding over the service and to Bishop for his beautiful closing remarks.</li>
<li>A 20-friend choir who sang Kanaka Waiwai, with two guitars and two ukuleles.</li>
<li>Daniel Henderson, Lachlan's music teacher and our dear family friend, for organizing several music numbers, including performing a powerful rendition of Oh Lord, My Redeemer, by Jeff Goodrich, accompanied by Jennifer Duerden, who also played the organ for the service.</li>
<li>Evan Rutherford, a friend of Lachlan's, for his stirring invocation.</li>
<li>Liz Guillen, Lachlan's friend, who provided a moving description of Lachlan's time at BYU-Hawai'i, drawing from experiences shared by 30 of Lachlan's friends.</li>
<li>A student string quartet performance of Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, arranged by Ricky Valadez featuring Aika Collotte and Claire Wilson on the violin, Taleah Butler on the viola, and Stratton Keele on the cello, all of whom were with Lachlan in studio orchestra.</li>
<li>Uncle Bronson Kelly, for offering a beautiful and peace-bringing benediction.</li>
<li>Michelle Henderson, our family friend, and many other hands who contributed food to feed the many who tarried with us in the hours after the service.</li>
</ul>
Speaking at the service in honor of their brother were our children Janessa, Logan, and J.B. Lachlan's mother and father also spoke, sharing of the love and light they have received as they have felt the love and support of God, of friends and family, and the powerful knowledge of our identity as God's children.

We express our aloha and mahalo to all who shared their stories of Lachlan, gave us big hugs of reassurance, and wept with us in joyous remembrance.&nbsp;

The burial took place in a private ceremony for family on Tuesday, June 19, 2025. Mahalo to the La'ie Community Cemetery and the Aloha Mortuary for working so swiftly to help us lay our dear son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to rest. Because of the tight timeframe, we were unable to hold a viewing for Lachlan at Saturday's service.
