Robert "Bob" William Schilling
March 25th, 1946 - December 30th, 2023
Robert (Bob) William Schilling Robert William Schilling was born on March 25, 1946 in Duluth, MN to Joseph and Elma Schilling. He died at the age of 77 on December 30, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bob grew up with his parents and brother Clyde in West Duluth, graduating from Denfeld High School in 1964. He worked at Conwed/USG Interiors in Cloquet for 43 years, spending most of his career spotting trailers and driving forklift in the mill’s warehouse. He was a hard worker, proud of what he did and had many great friends from the mill. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Ardythe. They went on many cruises, tropical vacations, camping and wintering in Lake Havasu the past few years. In retirement, his favorite pastime was enjoying scooter rides with his friends (The Wrinkled Riders). The scooters accompanied them everywhere they went – home, camping and even Arizona. Workers at many local establishments across the country knew of the legend of the Wrinkled Riders! Throughout his life Bob enjoyed camping, boating, going to the races and happy hour with his friends (especially the free pizza!). During his retirement he enjoyed watching The Price is Right (often yelling at contestants who made absurd bids) and Gunsmoke and tracked days of the week by the thickness of the local newspaper. Bob and Ardythe had an active social calendar and would meet up with friends for dinner routinely. Keeping up with the activities of all the grandchildren also kept him busy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Elma. Bob is survived by his wife and companion of 40 years, Ardythe Graves; children Rob (Jessie) Schilling, Lori (ConnLe) Jensen, Julie (James) Jarvi; stepdaughters Annette (Dan) Steensland, Gina Graves; grandchildren Nick, Kaitlyn, Kyle, RaeAnna, Robbie, Brooke; step grandchildren Dylan S, Dylan J, Porsche; his brother Clyde (Barbara) Schilling. Bob also had many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. Cloquet, MN, on Saturday, January 13th, 2024. Visitation begins at 10am, followed by the Celebration of Life at 11am. A luncheon will follow the service in the Fireside Room. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
