Jon Malcolm Swenson
August 8th, 1932 - April 22nd, 2024
Jon Malcolm Swenson, 91, of Cromwell, passed away Monday, April 22nd 2024, in his home with loving family by his side. Jon was born on August 8, 1932 to Enock and Olga Swenson on a farm in Kandiyohi, county, MN. Jon was a farmhand for his Uncle during high school. He graduated from Willmar Schools in 1950, and entered the Army March 10, 1951- February 17, 1954 where he was Army Infantry Corporal. Jon worked for the railroad after the Army while attending college at St. Cloud State and U of M St Paul in 1959. Jon was united in marriage to Janice Roberts on March 24, 1954, in Willmar. They moved to Cromwell in 1959 where he taught Agriculture and Shop at Cromwell-Wright High School until 1980 when they began dairy farming. Jon was a volunteer EMT and Firefighter for 30 years in Cromwell. He was a FFA and 4-H Advisor. Additionally, he was Chairman of Cromwell Community Fair 1960-1980. Jon is preceded in death by his wife, Janice; brothers, Lemuel, Philip, and David He will be missed greatly by his children, Jon C (Charlena) Swenson, Jerry (Sharon) Swenson, Jill (Donny) Kirtland, Joel (Linda) Swenson, Joni (Erich) Mach, Janet (Tony) Homstad; grandchildren, Christopher, Leif (Jessica), Luke (Marisa), Alex (Angela), Brianna (Andy), Carissa (Pierre), Jessica (Corbin), Bowie (Nicole), Cody (Kylie), Aaron (Summer), Gracie, Rosie (Cy), Greg, Alesha, Zach, Gunnar (McKenzie), Jordan, Rhiannon (Jack), Joanie (Jon), Christopher, Logan (Marley) Conner (Derek), Laney, Ivy; great grandchildren, Alexandra, Lydia, Flint, Jett, Jaeger, Violet, Asher, Addy, Anya, Ainsley, James, Eliza, Hazel, Savvy, Stori, Christian, Thomas, Dakota, Kaitlyn, Callan, August, Beckett, Bria, Bazdian, Kinzleigh, and Saylor. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 until the Memorial Service at 2:00 P.M. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 5609 MN-210, Cromwell, MN. Luncheon will follow the service at the church.
