John R. McGinn, Sr.

John R. McGinn, Sr Born 3/27/39, Died 11/13/18 John R. McGinn, Sr, of St. Paul, MN, 79, passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2018, in Cottonwood, AZ. John married Nelsene Pearson in November 1988. He was a 56 year member of former Local 132 and Local 563 of the Laborers' International Union of N. America. He served as Business Manager of Local 132 for a number of years. John loved the outdoors and to hunt and fish. He was a boxer as a young man and for several years taught boxing to young boys, including his two sons. John was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joe and Elizabeth McGinn; his son Steven Michael; brothers Bill, Donald and Leonard; granddaughter Jennifer Mercado; grandson Max Romeo; and his first wife Darlene Zigan. He is survived by his wife Nelsene; son John McGinn, Jr (Joanna); daughter Kim Mercado (Bob); brother Patrick McGinn; sister Catherine Dunigan; stepdaughters Alison Romeo (Roger) and Adrienne Karns; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. There will be a Celebration of John's life on May 18, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Willwerscheid West-Heights Chapel, 235 Wentworth Ave. W, West St. Paul, MN.
