Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
Stephen Armstrong
March 22nd, 1940 - October 4th, 2023
Steve passed away Oct 4, 2023, with his loving wife, by his side. Steve married his high school sweetheart and best friend Carolee A. Armstrong 62 years ago. A wonderful, caring and loving farther to Melinda K (Eric) Kloppedal and Wayne T (JoAnn) Armstrong. Beloved Grandfather to 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Much loved Brother of Jean (Carl) Zirk and Gregory (Cheryl) Armstrong. Steve grew up in Cooksville, WI where his father owned the grocery store. Even during his journey with Alzheimer’s he kept his fond memories of working in that store as a young man. Upon graduation, from Stoughton High School, he chose to serve his country and joined the U.S. Navy. Part of his time in the Navy was spent on a submarine and he also was a catcher for the Navy baseball team. While stationed in Hawaii he married his longtime love Carolee on February 26th 1961. Upon leaving the Navy he worked for Wisconsin Electric Company until his retirement. In his retirement years, he and Carolee split their time between Fort Atkinson, WI and Fort Myers Beach, Fl. They loved their friends and community at Bayside in Fort Myers. They also loved spending time in Door County, WI. A special Thank You to the staff and friends at Skaalen Magnolia Gardens for all the love and support given to our father, and the continuing love and care for our mother. As per family wishes a private Celebration Of Life will take place at a later date.

We Entrusted Stephen Armstrong's Care To
Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
