George Anton Novak, 64, Cloquet, died Friday, January 18, 2002 in his home. He was born September 8, 1937 in Duluth, the son of Theodore and Rose (Krile) Novak. George was an Army veteran serving from 1957 - 1960 and earned an Army sharpshooter award. He married Sandra Hemze July 20, 1963 in Minneapolis. George attended electrician school while in the Army and after his discharge he repaired coin meters in Minneapolis. From 1969 to the present, he was a Union Painter with Union Local 106. George's greatest love was his family and being a father. He also enjoyed carpentry, car mechanics, snowmobiling, reading and research and loved animals and the family pets. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ted Novak and two infant brothers. George was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife of 38 1/2 years, Sandi of Cloquet; three daughters, Jessica Novak of Cloquet, Dianna (Keith) Olson of Finlayson and Lisa Bjorken-Capistrant and Lance Capistrant of Bloomington; a brother, Leonard (Janet) Novak of Apple Valley; 5 grandchildren, Blaine Bjorken, Alyssa and Sarah Capistrant, and Jesse and Josey Olson; mother-in-law, Shirley Hemze of Bloomington; sister-and brother-in-law, Wendy (Brian) Larson of Eagan; four nephews, Daniel, Curt and Jonathan Novak and Robby Martin and a niece Abby Larson. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Interment was in Oneota Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
