Jerome Ernest Rouleau
July 1st, 1918 - June 10th, 2005
Jerome Ernest "Jay" Rouleau, 86, of St. Cloud, formerly of Cloquet died Friday, June 10, 2005 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born July 1, 1918, in Duluth, the son of Ernest and Clara (Gaden) Rouleau. He grew up in West Duluth and entered the CCC's (Civilian Conservation Corps) as a teenager in Ely, MN. In 1939 he married Eileen Parantala and they moved to Duluth in 1940. He served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Wiley. Jay worked at Interlake Iron in the 1950's and at Clyde Iron in the 1960's until his retirement in 1983. He lived in Cloquet from 1972 until moving to St. Cloud in 2002. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW both in West Duluth., and Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Jay enjoyed music and dancing. Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen, a son, Rodney; a daughter, JoAnne Heffler; one sister, Marie; and one brother, Raymond. Jay is survived by a son, Jerry (Pat) Rouleau of Duluth; a daughter Mary Jo (Steve) Robak of St. Cloud; a brother, Ernest Rouleau of Duluth; twelve beloved grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, June 16, 2005 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Military honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Van Buren Township. Memorials are preferred to the Veterans Administration Adult Day Health Care, C/O St. Cloud VAMC, ADCH 48-1, 4801 Veteran's Drive, St. Cloud, MN, 56303 which the family would like to thank for their loving care. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
