Wilma "Winnie" Betty Roen, 85 of Floodwood, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Cloquet. The daughter of William and Bessy Anton, she was born in 1924 in Thomson Township, MN. Winnie was a homemaker and farmed in Floodwood from 1964 - 1969. She worked as a nurses' aide and in the laundry department of Carlton Nursing Home from 1976 until she retired in 1988. She was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Clark in 1969; her husbands, Eric Erdmann, Stanley Clark, Walter Strand, Ted Niemi and Perry Roen; four sisters, Loretta Anton, Mae St. Germain, Stella Jacoby and an infant sister and four brothers, Elmo, Arby and William Anton and an infant brother. Winnie is survived by her children, Rodger (Cathy) Erdmann of Thomson, Bea Savage of Floodwood, Lester Erdmann of Thomson, Connie (Bruce) Elseth of Newfolden, Wendy Diemart of Cloquet, Monica Clark of Floodwood and Patricia (John) Seredinski of Floodwood; 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Anton of Carlton and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to St. Mary's Hospice, Diamond Willow in Cloquet and Riverview Assisted Living in Floodwood for the excellent care given to Winnie. Funeral Services were held on Sunday, April 5, 2009 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Carlton. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice.
