View Slide Show Nancy L. Filiowich, 52 of Cloquet died peacefully Wednesday, December 28, 2005 in Minot, North Dakota, with her family at her side. She was born March 29, 1953 in St. Paul, the daughter of Don and Evelyn (Hoeft) Abbott. Nancy was an extraordinary wife, a loving and dedicated mother who filled our lives with compassion, beauty, joy and laughter. She grew lovely and elaborate flower gardens. She loved and helped make beautiful music with the Presbyterian Church of Cloquet Choir and the James Chorale. Nancy loved to travel. She experienced everything from canoeing and kayaking in the Boundary Waters and Northern Canadian rivers to traveling the US and the world. Her adventures included all of the English Isles, the middle European countries, the Baltic's and Russia and the Ukraine. Islands were her favorites and they ranged from the Caribbean to Tahiti and Bora Bora. Even with all of this adventure, her greatest joy was sharing time with friends and family at home and at the cabin. Nancy had a 20 plus year career as a Laboratory Technologist with the Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet where she demonstrated her commitment to patient care. As a community volunteer she touched people's lives in too many ways to list. Nancy will be remembered and missed by all who knew her and felt her spirit and joy. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Don and Evelyn Abbott. She is survived by husband, Bill of Cloquet; sons, Ryan (Amanda) of Minot, ND and Kevin Filiowich of Cloquet; sisters, Judy (Don) Maurer of Marine on St. Croix, Betty (Dennis) Johnson of Brainerd and Alice Abbott of Stillwater.
