Lorraine "Lorrie" E. (Rengo) Swain, 69 of Duluth, formerly of Lakewood, CO. and Floodwood, MN died Tuesday, August 6, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born October 6, 1932 in Floodwood to Edward and Ethel (Simi) Rengo. Lorrie graduated from Floodwood High School in 1950. She attended the university in St. Cloud for two years for elementary education. She taught in North Branch for two years and then attended UMD where she received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1956. She moved to San Diego, CA where she continued teaching. It was in San Diego where Lorrie met and later married Harvey Swain. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Lakewood, Colorado. She received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Denver. Lorrie taught 4th and 5th grade until retiring in 1987. She was a lifetime member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and a member of the Lutheran church in Lakewood, CO. She enjoyed camping and fishing in the Rocky Mountains. Her husband, Harvey died in 1991. Lorrie moved to Duluth in September of 2000. In addition to her husband, Lorrie was preceded in death by an infant son, her father, Edward Rengo in 1989, her mother, Ethel Rengo on July 29, 2002 and a niece Deborah Sanders. She is survived by two brothers, Edward "Al" (Lois) Rengo of Bellevue, NE, Duane "John" (Brenda) Rengo of Esko; sisters, Elaine (Louis) Helmer of Belle Fourche, SD, Gail (Dale) Reimer of Mound, MN, Phyllis Koskela of Trumansburg, NY and Sharon (Ronald) Grand of Carlotta, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held on Friday, August 9, 2002 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. A time of fellowship and lunch followed in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
