Julia Helen Beckman, 92, Cromwell, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in Villa Vista Nursing Home. She was born February 16, 1913 in Duluth, the daughter of August and Edith (Erickson) Aho. Julia was raised in Tamarack and in June of 1934 she married Onni Beckman in Duluth. Julia worked at the Cromwell Coop store for several years. She was a very active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Rachel Circle, taught Sunday School, served on the church council and sang in the church choir for many years. Julia was also a very active volunteer. She was a volunteer driver and assisted with home care for those who might require some extra assistance or a ride. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, traveling and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Onni, in 1975; two brothers, Henry and Bill Aho and a sister, Alice Hietala. Julia is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Ray) Mowers of Cromwell; three grandchildren, Debra (Forrest) Brown and Mike (Kim) Mowers, both of Burnsville and Jeff (Becky) Mowers of Lakeville; six great grandchildren, Katie and Forrest Brown, Jesse, Betsy, Holly and Chelsey Mowers; and a great great grandson, Tray; two brothers, Art (Mary) Aho and Leonard (Toini) Aho, both of Tamarack; four sisters, Betty Holm and Esther McGuire, both of Cromwell and Ellen Resso and Dorothy (Ray) Tiili, both of Duluth. Visitation will be Monday, March 21, 2005 from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service in Bethany Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Burial will be in the spring in Eagle Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
