Atkins-Northland Funeral Home
Loren Allen Erickson
August 6th, 1959 - January 15th, 2018
Loren Allen Erickson, 58, of Cloquet passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 in his home with his family by his side. He was born August 6, 1959 in Cloquet to Donald and MaryAnn Erickson. As an infant, Loren attended a baby shower with his mom for Tracy Hallback, who would later become the love of his life and best friend. Shortly after marrying Tracy on January 6, 1978 the Navy sent him to Japan where Loren and Tracy spent three years before returning to Cloquet. Loren worked at Potlatch as a pipefitter and continued working at Sappi as a mechanic until 2017. Loren was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Potlatch Quarter Century Club. After his discharge from the Navy, he served eight years in the Reserves. Loren believed in working hard, camo season, and taking care of his family. He found no greater joy than being called "Boppy" and teaching his grandsons to hunt, fish and the importance of wearing a clean white T-shirt every day. There wasn't much that Loren couldn't fix or build and he was always willing to lend a hand. When Loren decided to do something, he went above and beyond whether it was remodeling the ice house, planning camping trips to Trout Lake or loving his family which included his sweet pup, Frankie. Loren was welcomed in heaven by his father, Donald; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Hallback. He will be missed and live on inside the hearts of his wife of 40 years, Tracy; son, Joshua (Ashley) of Mahtowa; daughter, Rylee (Ben) Martin of Duluth; grandsons, Jaxon and Thomas Erickson; mother, MaryAnn Erickson of Cloquet; sisters, Ronda (Jeff) Wehr of Cloquet, Roxann (Dick) Burtness of Fargo and Renee Erickson of Cloquet; special father-in-law, Donald Hallback of Cloquet; brother-in-law, Dave (Kelly) Hallback of Cloquet; sister-in-law, Dawn (George) Reynolds of Cloquet; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and friends who were also family. Visitation: 10 until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Monday, January 22, 2018 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Military Honors will be accorded by the Fond du Lac and Cloquet Combined Honor Guards. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
