Gayle Ann Ryan, 76 of Carlton, died Friday, May 18, 2007 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. She was a 1949 graduate of Moose Lake High School and also graduated from Business College. Gayle married Richard Ryan on June 18, 1952 in Richfield, MN. She was employed as a nursing assistant for 23 years at the Carlton Nursing Home, retiring in 1991. Gayle was a 49-year member of the Cloquet American Legion Auxiliary and was the former treasurer for Local 1116 Retirees Group. She was an avid Precious Moments collector and enjoyed going on trips with her friends and her sister Faye. Gayle loved to watch football, enjoyed music and playing the piano, walleye dinners and will fondly be remembered for her many delicious baked goods. Her love for family and friends was constantly shown by her remembrances of their birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and all of life's many other special occasions. Her thoughtfulness will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Joyce Konieska and a grandson, Austin Angell. Gayle is survived by four daughters, Linda (Vern) Dittberner of Carlton, Jean Ryan of Cloquet, Kathleen (Steve) Ide and Kelly (Jeff) Early, both of Hermantown; two sons, Jeff (Sherri) Ryan of Casselberry, FL and Michael (Kaye) Ryan of Esko; two sisters, Faye (Ross) Dickison of Kansas City, MO and Diane (Larry) Takkunen of Cloquet; 14 grandchildren, Kristi, Aaron, Patrick, Adrienne, Shawna, Jordan, Amanda, Shane, Jessica, Brett, Katelyn, Nicholas, Amber and Adam; 6 great grandchildren, Sarah, Ahnna, Noah, Addie, Eva Marie and Brooklyn; a special companion, Jim Granholm of Wright and close friends, Ida Mohn of Carlton and Lil and Art Gilderman of Cloquet. Gayle's family would like to thank Dr. Dana Malkovich at Raiter Clinic for the many years of medical care and the special attention he gave to Gayle. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Carlton.
