Donald Raymond Loban
June 26th, 1930 - June 3rd, 2012
Donald Raymond Loban, 81 of Moose Lake passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 in Essentia Health St.Mary's Hospice. Don was born on June 26, 1930 in Cloquet to Floyd and Margaret Loban. He attended Wrenshall public schools. He studied at UMD, the U of MN, and St. Cloud State. He had a B.S. and was one class short of having a Principal's license. He was a teacher in Sheboygen, WI, he taught and was a principal at Eagle Bend, MN, Stranquist, MN and Pine City, MN. Don began work in 1973 at the Moose Lake State Hospital and met his wife Katherine the first day she started working there. He retired October 28, 1992. Don was an active AFSCME union officer and member, and a member of the Minnesota Retired State Employee Association. He fished with his parents and friends for many years. Don liked to watch all sports and he liked to make things with his hands. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Don is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Katherine; children, Karen Feigin, Richard Loban, Zachary (Carla) Loban, Arne (Laura) Loban, and Dan (Joy) Loban; sister, Jean Johnson; eleven grandchildren; and nieces and a nephew. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital and St. Mary's ICU as well a the staff of St. Mary's Hospice for the care Don received. Memorial Services were held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Moose Lake Covenant Church, 700 Folz Blvd. Refreshments were served in the church fellowship hall following the service. Inurnment was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
