Dale Joseph Paquette, 85 of Brookston, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at his home. Dale was born on March 5, 1923 in Duluth to Leo and Etta Paquette. Dale spent his childhood in Duluth and attended Denfeld High School. He moved to the Brookston area in 1967. In 1986, he moved to the home of Donald and Sherry Winter. He spent the next 22 years living with the Winter family and a number of housemates. He was employed at Floodwood Services and Training where he enjoyed a variety of jobs, most especially helping with the recycling. Dale was a kind and friendly man, known to many as "Carpenter". He enjoyed working outdoors, whether it was raking, fishing or making woodworking projects. Over the years, he participated in many parades in Brookston and Floodwood communities, and assisted at local 4-H horse shows. He loved animals, especially the horses. In his later years, Dale found great pleasure in driving his golf car around his home and spending time with his housemates. Dale was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his extended family, Donald and Sherry Winter of Brookston, Timothy Winter and April Winter and their children of Floodwood, Dietrich (Sarah) Winter and their children of Hermantown, and Dustin (Amy) Winter and their children of Eagan, MN; his housemates, John, George, Charlotte, Nancy and Rose; the staff who cared for him at Winter Homes, Inc. and innumerable special friends and former co-workers. Memorial Services were held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 in Assemblies of God Church, Floodwood. Inurnment was in Arrowhead Cemetery.
