Selma Caroline Wendling, 94 of Two Harbors, formerly of Cloquet, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Nicholson's Foster Home in Two Harbors. She was born in 1914 to John Victor and Ingrid Olson of Blackhoof. Selma was married to Bertrand Vincent Wendling in 1936 and resided in Cloquet. She worked as a beauty operator after high school and at Northwest Paper in Cloquet during World War II. After the death of her husband in 1962, she worked in private homes caring for children and the elderly until she retired in 1976. Selma was a member of Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle, attended the Living Waters Church in Two Harbors while residing there and sang with the Sweet Adelines of Duluth for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert; two sons, Bert Jr. and Ronald Wendling; five brothers and three sisters. Selma is survived by two sons, George (Marcy) of Leonard, ND and Richard (Peggy) of Minnetonka; a daughter, Linda (Robert) Nikolai of Finland; a brother, Art (Margaret) Olson of Gardena, CA; one sister, Irene (Kelly) Carlson of Carlton; 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held on Friday, December 5, 2008 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Interment was in Old Holy Family Cemetery, Cloquet. A memorial service will be held at the Living Waters Church in Two Harbors on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
