View Slide Show Paul J. Pohjola, 85, a life-long resident of Cloquet, died Thursday, December 29, 2005 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. He was born September 23, 1920 in Cloquet, the son of John and Anna (Kallstrom) Pohjola. Paul married Rosalyn Borin on December 14, 1940 in Cloquet. Paul was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the invasion of Leyte Gulf. He was employed by Northwest Paper and Potlatch for 41 years, retiring in 1982. Paul was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, VFW Post 3979, a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 262; a member of Finlandia Beach; a former member of Local 939 Firemen and Oilers; was a volunteer guide for the veterans fishing trip and a founding and life-long member of the Cloquet Men's Cribbage League. He loved to hunt and fish, especially enjoyed his saunas, enjoyed playing golf, cribbage and poker, was an excellent cement finisher and bricklayer and will be fondly remembered as always willing to help anyone. He was preceded in death by his parents and six sibilings, Eileen Chartier, Elmer Wickstrom, Elsie Paulsen, Roy Wickstrom, Lillian DeSciscio and Harold Pohjola. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rosalyn, of Cloquet; two daughters, Janet (Warner) Bodin of Carlton and Marilyn (Jim) Sorenson of Cloquet; a son, Ronald (Beverly) Pohjola of Richland, WA; 8 grandchildren, LeeAnn Grundahl, Julie Weiler, Donald, Jeffrey, Christine and Shawn Pohjola, Jenifer and Rebecca Sorenson; four great grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Madison and Justin. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 2, 2006 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet. View Slide Show
