January 8th, 1946 - March 30th, 2006
Richard Hurst, 60 of Cloquet died peacefully Thursday, March 30, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth after his courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side. Dick was born January 8, 1946 in Appleton, Wisc. to Harold and Pearl (Dittman) Hurst. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1964. On June 10, 1967 he married Kathy VandenBoogaard in Kimberly, Wisc. He worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company in Kaukauna until 1987 at which time he moved to Cloquet. He worked for StoraEnso Paper Company in Duluth until retiring in 2003. Dick was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed visiting ball parks. He also enjoyed traveling and visiting historical sites. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Chris (Becky) of Kaukauna, Wisc.; daughters, Paula (Scott) Reaves of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., Shelly (Shawn) Manisto of Prior Lake, Katie (fiance, Craig Stevens) Hurst of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Scott (Kristi) of Sherwood, Wisc.; sisters, Shirley Linzmeyer and Judy (Matt) Mitchell both of Kaukauna, Lynn Tepolt and Connie (Jim) Sericati both of Appleton; five grandchildren, Kyle, Jake, and Derek Manisto, Cole and Luke Hurst. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, April 3, 2006 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Appleton, Wisc.
