Ilta Esther Parantala
July 8th, 1918 - January 25th, 2005
Ilta Esther Parantala, 86 of Floodwood died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell. She was born July 8, 1918 in Brookston to Matt and Hilma (Enberg) Siltanen. She graduated from Brookston School in 1936. Ilta married Emil Parantala on June 26, 1937 in Duluth. After their marriage, they made their home in Floodwood. During the 1950's, Ilta worked at Wood Conversion in Cloquet. In the early 1970's she worked at Maurice's in Duluth until retiring in 1975. Ilta was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Ilta was preceded in death by a son, Barry; brothers, Eino and Hjalmer Siltanen; and a sister, Lempi Metso. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 67 years, Emil; son, Dale (Kitty) Parantala of Las Vegas; daughter, Rae Ann (Scott) Anderson of Floodwood; six grandchildren, April (Jason) Smitke, Mark (Tracy), Michelle, and Paul Parantala, Chuck (Anna), and Brody Anderson; six great grandchildren, Megan, Amanda, and Emma Smitke, Donivan and Jillian Anderson, and Paige Parantala. Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 29, 2005 in Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. Inurnment will be in the spring in Forest Hill Cemetery in Van Buren Township. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Hibbing Animal Shelter. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
